ABOUT ALEXAlex Pope is recognised in the UK as an energetic and renowned musician and
projects co-ordinator. He is in demand as a professional percussionist and is regularly found organising new ventures and promoting music education within the UK. Alex studied under Ron Armstrong, Jan Faulkner, Simone Rebello and Jane Higgins and with the Open University. He worked for over 5 years as a teacher, percussion coodinator and conductor for Southampton Music Services until resigning to pursue his private career from February 2013. In January 2013, Alex founded the Showcase Performance Company and Alex Pope Ltd who promote and give music education a fresh approach for schools. Combined, they offer a range of what they like to call the most inspirational and unforgettable musical experiences. Among recent engagements, Alex has delivered percussion workshops with the choristers of Christchurch Cathedral Choir in Oxford, performed in the Young Voices UK Tour at the O2 Arena in London and is currently promoting Showcase with workshops for Carnival UK on some of the worlds luxury liners with brands including P&O Cruises and Cunard. In 2012, Alex was invited by Her Majesty the Queen to attend the Diamond Jubilee Royal Garden Party in recognition for his musical vision and work in the community on the South Coast. Alex was the original percussionist in Songs in the Key of Stevie, the UK's spectacular Stevie Wonder Tribute Theatre Show and is currently Musical Director of the Marchwood Orchestra (stepping down in July 2013). 2013 marks the launch of the Showcase Foundation Charity which aims to ensure there are no restrictions for young people to access music and the life changing effects it has. |
